Tahia Lang

Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP)

I have been blessed to spend the last 32 years in Hawaii working in the fitness and nutrition industry.  This journey started teaching group fitness classes at the Hawaii Spa Fitness Center in Kaneohe.  In 10 years, this position lead to personal training and facility management.

Although I continued to teach classes at various locations around the island, my energy and focus turned to MWR Navy Fitness.  There I managed Navy Fitness Centers and developed programs to support the commands sailors and family.  More specifically, the Fitness Enhancement Program. This program was for sailors who failed to maintain the required fitness standards.  I developed and taught fitness and nutrition programs while providing guidance and support to those assigned to the program or who were interested in improving their health and fitness.  Through this amazing opportunity I completed The Cooper Institutes Fitness Specialist, Master Fitness Specialist, Biomechanics and Nutrition courses.

My next adventure was by far the best!  In 2008 I opened a yoga, dance and fitness studio in Kapolei Hawaii with a longtime friend and business partner.  In the 6 years of owning and operating this business my love for the industry grew to include community service, educational workshops and mentoring students to become instructors and share their passion with their communities.

In 2015 I sold the business and joined the UFC Gym Team where I taught group fitness classes.  By 2017 I was promoted to Area Group Fitness Manager overseeing 30 employees and group fitness programs in 2 gyms.  This opportunity allowed me to continue to work with and learn from a diverse population.

Through these experiences I have learned many things.  For example, a one size diet or fitness program doesn’t fit all, it isn’t always “calories in vs calories” out and most importantly you can’t outrun a bad diet or poor nutrition.  The success, failure or sustainability of a program or lifestyle depends on many factors.  Along with age, gender and expectations other factors include epigenetic’s and bio-individuality. Epigenetic's is the way the environment interacts with our genes turning some on and others off. Bio- individuality on the other hand is the dynamic circumstances governing the body’s needs and is informed by both genetic and epigenetic factors. Most importantly, what I thought I knew about nutrition wasn’t entirely correct, which brings me to where I am at today.

I am excited to bring years of experience, nutrition and education from the Nutritional Therapy Association to my students, clients and community.  As a Certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner my programs are uniquely based on a foundational holistic approach to nutrition. I offer specific tools for managing and assessing nutritional deficiencies using the body’s innate intelligence and acknowledging my clients bio-individuality.  I teach my clients how to support these deficits through a properly prepared, whole food diet, supplementation, fitness and lifestyle changes.

I am excited to help people find vibrant health, energy and total wellness.
